She encountered numerous obstacles while trying to get ahead in life, as she was without a mentor until she was 30. Once she found a mentor, she became more focused and navigated life more confidently. This experience inspired her to start BGOC. She aims to provide unrepresented young women with the support and mentorship she wished she had earlier. Through our program, Monica hopes to empower more young women of color with the resources and guidance they need to thrive and achieve their dreams.

Our founder (Monica Britton-West) understands the struggles that young women of color face.

We mentor young women ages 14-24, guiding them to succeed in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Our mentorship programs instill confidence in our mentees and equip them with the essential skills needed to excel in life, including problem-solving, leadership, financial literacy, goal-setting, and network-building skills.

Black Girl On Campus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping  young women of color close the opportunity gap and thrive in life.

We believe every young woman of color deserves to thrive. Period.
